Please spare a minute to join a movement to bring global awareness to children’s health and education by going without shoes
on April 29th…
By going barefoot on April 29th, you will be bringing awareness to children’s global health and education issues by initiating conversation.
Get co-workers and friends involved - the more bare feet there are, the bigger the footprint we make.

Here’s how you can get involved…
1. In the run up to April 29th
State your pledge with the #withoutshoes @TOMS encouraging readers / friends to also get involved
(eg. “I am going #withoutshoes on April 29th – why don’t you join me and @TOMS to raise global awareness-the more bare feet there are, the bigger the footprint we can make!”
2. Then on April 29th
Instagram a picture of your barefoot selfie with the #withoutshoes @TOMS
(eg. “I am going #withoutshoes today so others don’t have to @TOMS …”)
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO RAISE AWARENESS?
The Key Facts:
Health
740 million people (mostly children) worldwide are
affected with hookworm, a soil-transmitted parasite
SOURCE: World Health Organisation
Education
Providing shoes and school uniforms to children in need increase attendance up to 62%
SOURCE: Evans, 2009
Self-Esteem
Meeting the basic needs of children can increase
self-worth leading to better opportunities
THIS IS ABOUT MORE THAN SHOES
Children
lacking access to education and good health struggle to break the poverty cycle
for themselves, their families and their communities.
With
the complex issues surrounding poverty, there is not one solution, but many
working together. TOMS believe that shoes play an important role in helping
keep children healthy, educated and moving toward opportunities for a better
future.
So what are you waiting for? Get involved now :o)
