A collaboration with designer talent
Lea Peckre and French lingerie pioneer Maison Lejaby- 2015 can
only mean one thing: the much awaited introduction of the AW14 pret-a-porter
collection.
Unexpectedly,
the rare collaboration of Maison Lejaby, a prominent figure in high end French
lingerie and Lea Pecke a 29 years old designer, is something out of the
ordinary. However, out of the unexpected fruition, the beginnings of creative
genius in the fine line between lingerie and pret a porter has been born.
Lea
Peckre’s designs focuses on architectural volumes and striking dark colours in parallel
to Maison Lejaby, with its long running collection Maison Lejaby Couture.
Often, a collaboration between a reputable brand and a new designer often
brings with it a wave of the contemporary. Yet, Lea Peckre stresses the importance of it
being
“very important to be able to define one's own style when being in a collaborative process, especially when you begin in this trade. Consequently, I have built a collection in my own way, following the codes of the trademark specific to Maison Lejaby".
Specifically,
Lejaby and Peckre have shifted their focus onto the 80’s and the 90’s,
undeniably not a mistake but a design with a purpose. Set in the history of
fashion, in 1988 Isabelle Adjani caused an uproar when she modelled for Lejaby by
wearing a white bra seductively arranged to peek out of her jersey. "That advertisement shows to what extent
a piece of clothing can enhance a lingerie outfit… and increase tenfold the
power of seduction of the person who wears it", points out Léa Peckre to
explain the effect of this striking act.
Lea’s
designs for the new collection have tended to focus on "cover
silhouettes" as she has structured tulle to hint at a nebulous screen like
effect on the skin. Suggestion at the lingerie appears to be the
collaboration’s purpose this time round however, as there is a “The Goddess
Experience” feel to this Parisian collection as derived from Gisele Scanlon’s
book as a woman is described as
“She’ll often show a little quirky detail (a low cut t-shirt or a bra strap poking from beneath her dress)… She favours subtle allure over overt sexuality and she’s an expert at layering sensual scent.”

Sensuality, femininity and seduction are all key themes
running throughout the AW14 collection as the classic elements of silk and lace
are dismissed to pave way for the contemporary. A fusion between pret a porter
are lingerie is established as fabrics and techniques are amalgamated together.
Unusual materials such as alpaca, neoprene and lycra are used to design sensually
crafted bodysuits and bustiers.
For Maison Lejaby, Lea Peckre has instilled a breath of fresh
air in the underwear as outwear trend which is not going away any time soon.
