Penthouse London meets Material Girl - Jewellery Extraordinaire

On behalf of The Clothes Maiden magazine and my own blog, I was lucky enough to be invited to spend last  Tuesday evening at Penthouse London - notorious for its gorgeous views of the London skyline and nightlife for the Bloggers Love Material Girl event.

The stunning venue was the platform on which jewellery brands were able to showcase their latest range all with a personal touch of networking and chatting at ease with bloggers (a lot of us were very keen!). It was a chilled, relaxed atmosphere and accompanied with some delish Oreo cupcakes courtesy of Love Miss Cupcakes.

The highlight of the evening was the fantastic chance to come together designers and media alike to network which make a change from reading or being inundated with adverts. We got to see the face behind the brands and ask them  how they were inspired to create stunning ranges and the ins and outs of designing the pieces as well as a heavy discussion on the power of social media and blogging to expose brands like these for their fantastic work when there is so much rivalry in the contemporary jewellery business.

I've listed and explored the brands below that I had the chance to see at the Material Girl event and I'd definitely recommend checking them out either for treating yourself or your lovely deserving friends/other halves (for guys)/family members! Unique and contemporary, here are jewellery pieces with a twist:

A graduate from Central Saint Martins, Faye Marie has been featured in Jewellery Focus Magazine as one to watch in 2014 and so you'd expect a lot from her. I asked about the story behind designing her work and boy was it an interesting one: a unique symbol of passion and attraction which her pieces are based on. Designing the range herself, Faye Marie drew inspiration from the sparkling display fireflies ignite when expressing attraction. I particularly enjoyed the message behind the brands as it makes it personable and who doesn't like fireflies?!

JeDeCo is a name to remember as the umbrella group for diverse, on-trend jewellery as they boast a wealth of jewellery designers. I especially loved how their range differed as each design was unique and reflected the diversity of jewellery brands. For those of you who love classic, elegant jewellery which is not too heavy but visually stunning enough to complete a look,  this is your go to brand.

You know when celebrities are wearing a certain brand of jewellery there is something special about it! Gemz by Emz  design handmade, enticing pieces reflecting trends on the high street and fashion world.

As a fan of charm bracelets, they had fantastic colours to boast as well as a bespoke service to design your own bracelet stacks, charm bracelets and beaded rings.

This was my favourite brand of the night and so I am pretty excited to tell you a bit more about them.

Love Thy Accessories are an online boutique with a flair for urban statement and glam fashion jewellery. Bold, bright and vivacious, they craft knock out pieces to make your outfit stand out. Devoted to individual style and statement fashion, their jewellery range are perfect for piecing together a simple outfit with a bit of oomph.

It is always a breath of fresh air when an artist is inspired by their roots and Ros Millar is such a designer. An award-winning designer from Northern Ireland, she fuses the practising art of traditional techniques with contemporary designs to reflect her dedication towards nature and her surroundings. She uses  techniques as cuttlebone casting and photo etching, which pre-date to the Renaissance era, (a bonus point for this English Literature student here!) and certainly has a  meticulous flair for fruitification and formation skills.  I loved hearing her inspiring story about the vision for her designs as they were especially earthy and natural looking.

Frida and Freya are a mix of designer jewellery and statement pieces offering adornments to reflect your look. Inspired by the feminine notion of elegance, attitude and femininity they exhibit a range of jewellery to reflect the now-in trends in the fashion sphere.

I fell in love with the Katie Rowland orb pendant  and will definitely be indulging in it when I save up some moolah ;-)

So now you've heard it from me here, let your mouse take over and have a browse through these collections.

Keep watching out for more posts on some exciting events coming up in the next few weeks :)
